What is my rotator cuff?

The rotator cuff is not one muscle but a protective cuff over the shoulder joint made up of four muscles:
Supraspinatus
Infraspinatus
Teres minor
​Subscapularis
Massage therapy can be of benefit for any injuries or soreness in this commonly injured muscle group.

Sciatica and the Sciatic Nerve

​Sciatica is an umbrella term for pain associated with the sciatic nerve.
  • *the sciatic nerve is the largest and longest nerve in the body
  • *pain can start in the low back and be felt in the glutes/hips, back of the leg, knee and even into the foot

​*causes can be due to disc herniation, spinal stenosis, SI joint issues and piriformis syndrome

New Written Consent Requirements for Treating Sensitive Areas

As of October, 2017 massage therapists are required to get written consent to treat the four following areas:
  • Buttocks (gluteal muscles)
  • Chest Wall Muscles (pects)
  • Upper Inner Thigh(s) (adductors)
  • Breasts​

*Bones produce blood cells and are continuously breaking down and rebuilding
*Bone is formed by putting stress on it - so use your muscles!!
*To build and strengthen bones do weight bearing exercises such as squats
*The most commonly broken bones are: clavicle, arm, wrist, hip, ankle (in that order)​

*The smallest bone is the stapes, found in the middle ear
